College life...

Hey!

I'm currently in college, learning new things, meeting new people, trying new things, having my up's and down's, etc.

And I probably won't have a lot of time from now on to write this blog, which is a shame, but I'll try my best to find the time to maybe create or watch a movie..

I'm studying Art history and Greek language, literature and culture...so I'm quite a busy woman these days.

I hope to see you in the following months..years..who knows..

Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!

Bye,
Tesa

Movie Thursday: Make room for tomorrow

An elderly couple are forced to separate when they lose their house and none of their five children will take both parents in.

A must see movie. If you are human, you will cry.

Earring Holder DIY

Hey everyone!

I wanted to post this project for a long time, because I made my holder a long time ago, but I messed it up, so I didn't want to post my one, so I made another one for my friend, who has like a million earrings.

To make this holder you just need wire (the thicker, the better) and clay.

I had a thinner wire, so I had to wrap it together that it became strong enough to hold the weight of the whole structure.

I think the process of making it is clear.
The three vertical wires are crossed and joined with a clay disc with a horizontal wire.

The lower part is made from a strong wire structure that holds all the wires up. And because you really want it secure and prettier just cover it with clay.
And because there is a lot of free space I decided to make a cup like end, where you can store smaller earrings or use it for more dangling earrings.

And for the final touch sand and paint :)

I came up with the design because I wanted something not so big, but big enough for all my earrings. So here it is :) It does take quite some of your time, but after you see the final product it's very nice and useful :)

Hope you like it! And if you make one for yourself, contact me! I'm curious what colors and ideas you'll come up with :)

Movie Thursday: The Lego Movie

An ordinary Lego construction worker, thought to be the prophesied 'Special', is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe into eternal stasis.

This is one of the best animated movies I have seen so far! :D The animation, the story, the feelings... They really did a fantastic job!

Everyone should see it, because it has a much greater message than just playing with the best toy ever made - Lego. It will make you laugh, but it will also make you cry.

Movie Thursday: 12 Years a Slave

In the antebellum United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.

A true story that should make you feel all miserable inside. This movie is a reminder that slavery happened, but it never should.

Bring it on!

In a few weeks I'll begin with my finals. First up it's an essay on four different dramas, one of which you probably all know - Hamlet, and if I have any Swiss readers, they probably know their playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt and his Physics. Other two are also from out 2 famous Slovenian writers - Ivan Cankar's Kralj na Betajnovi (The King on Betajnova) and Drago Jančar's Veliki briljantni valček (Grande Valse Brillante).

The main title is Man in the world.

I have to say, all these months discussing all four works about topics every man and woman should read and think about.

For example, Physics discuss the responsibility of a scientist to mankind - to hide it, because he knows politicians would take advantage of it to make better weapons, or to let people use it like they know best. And since it was published in 1962, a year after the Bay of Pigs invasion you can sense the tension.

Or another one is that we are all living in a controlled world (if you know 1984, you know what I'm talking about, but there is a milder version in the Veliki briljantni valček) and we can't hide from it. We have no rights, no freedom of speech, no freedom to think. Do we really want to live in such a world?

Anyways, I think young, but not just young should read these books and compare our world with the fictional world. There aren't many differences, ...

I became such a reader..huh...

Movie Thursday: A Clockwork Orange

In future Britain, charismatic delinquent Alex DeLarge is jailed and volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy developed by the government in an effort to solve society's crime problem - but not all goes according to plan.

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

Psychopath. But I really felt sorry for the guy.
A Kubrick film (that should tell you a lot). Not for everyone, because of all the scenes, the music, the horror...
But in the end, when you think it through, it has a message, a powerful one, which makes this movie such a cultic movie.

I know, I'm sorry but I haven't been up to watching movies for a while, and since pust (a time in Slovenia, when people dress up in costumes and scare off winter, it's almost like Halloween) is coming around, my brother needed a costume. And he figured he'd be Alex DeLarge in his most recognizable costume. And I wanted to know what kind of a psychopath he is representing, so I watched the movie :)

Valentines Day Heart Origami

Hey ladies and gentleman! :)

How are you all doing? :) Are you exited that Valentines Day is just around the coroner!?
If you're not, then you probably don't have an idea what gift you should give to your better half, but don't worry!

I might have a solution!

Now I think a lot of girls love, if their man does something by himself, maybe cook a dinner, repair things around the house and I'm sure they would love, if they would get a gift that was made entirely by him :)

Ok, so it's in the title that this is going to involve paper..so get the prettiest paper you can find and let's hope it's a square if not, make it a square. I'm not using the prettiest paper...oh well, I'm not doing it for anybody.. :)

So you're going to start by folding the square into a rectangular. Make sure that the opening is on top. Then fold the angles inside so that you get a triangular.

When that is done, TURN the paper. And then fold the top coroners to the bottom coroner (you guessed it it's a square again!).

Lift up the left flap and start to open and squash it (so you get a square). Do the same on the right flap.

Open the flaps slightly and carefully fold the small triangle inside downwards.

Now fold both of the small coroners on the left square to meet each other in the middle. Do the same on the right square.

Last but not least, fold the top two coroners, you just got, down.

If you turn everything, you should see a heart :D

And on the end you can add a little message for your love on the front :)

Here is the full tutorial for all you ''I get all information from the picture'' guys :)

I hope you at least got an idea...But in the end, she will be happy if you just spend time with her :) Same goes for the guys I guess :D

Have a happy Valentines Day!

I won't be home then, so that's why I'm posting this today...I'm going to be on a hunt for my faculty. Who knows, I might meet someone :)

Bye bye, my love birds :)

Happy Birthday to Me

Ok...I've had my birthday on 30th of January....last Thursday...
I know, I know...But it doesn't matter that much anymore :)

I've had a great day, even though I've spent most of the day in school. I've received a lot of kind and sincere wishes from my family and friends :)

So I'm 19 now...how should I feel? because I don't feel anything special :)
And my wishes? Well I've got some secret ones..so if I'd tell you, it wouldn't be much of a secret anymore :)

Have a happy Tuesday!

Decisions, decisions, ...

Huh... I don't know about you, but I've been having some hard days...The day I'll have to decide what I would like to study in the next 4 or 5 years is rapidly getting closer and closer.
Here in Slovenia you pick up 3 faculties or colleges in the order from the most favorite to the least favorite.

Now the thing is, that all this time I kinda knew what I want to study...But I became super insecure about my skills and imagination, because my program is based on skills and imagination.

I'm talking about interior design, and to get there you have to take a test that is going to determine, if you are for the job.

I can't draw. I am lacking imagination (that's one of the main reasons I haven't posted a DIY or anything on here...).

And I'm lacking of self-confidence. Like it really became a problem, because I can't concentrate when I wish to practice drawing. But I'm working on it, don't worry :D

But there is just another thing. I have one back up plan, so my second option would be history of art. And that could be a bit of a problem, because of all the limits...And now here is my last problem, I have no idea what I'd put on the 3rd place..

So here are my current frustrations...Hope you don't have that many :)

I'll be back on Thursday, on a special day :)
Have a nice day, you all!

I got my driving licence!

Hey there :)

I know, I know...you are probably thinking, who does she think she is, not posting anything...

It's just really busy in school this year, because I've got my finals and all...so I can even craft or watch movies, but I try. I really do. But I don't think those crafts are so good for a post on my blog.

I'm trying and I hope that in summer I'll have a lot of time to get back on track :)

But anyways, I have to tell you, that I just made my driving licence and I can officially drive now :D

In Slovenia you can get your driving licence at the age of 18 and have to have a lot of driving lessons, unlike in the USA. And the test on the end isn't that easy, because I've heard some pretty ridiculous reasons why someone has failed - one, for example, didn't know how to adjust the outside mirrors ...

Oh well...I am happy, because I spend a lot of money on this licence and because of my financial status I am relieved.

Day before the exam, we received tragic news from Canada, so I was even more nervous of my driving.

RIP and hope I'll always be on a safe journey with my car.
