Movie Thursday: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

The true story of Elle editor Jean-Dominique Bauby who suffers a stroke and has to live with an almost totally paralyzed body; only his left eye isn't paralyzed. And he writes his own biography.

He had a great life, a career, three kids, wife and a mistress. A stroke changed his life, but he didn't give up - his imagination set him free.

Movie Thursday: Spring Breakers

Four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation find themselves bailed out by a drug and arms dealer who wants them to do some dirty work.

Four pretty girls and a monster. Would you do the same as they did?
A lot of nudity and bikinis, hot scenes, guns, money, music...all that gangster stuff.
Great work James Franco!

Tissue Paper Roses

Hello everyone!

How about making some nice little or big decorations for the table, shelves, vases, etc.

I think these napkin flowers are quite nice and they are super easy to make.

Here is what you need:

Fold the napkin twice in a small square and cut it to a circle. Separate the little circles and gather them together, staple them together and one by one bring the circles up and form a rose shape.

And that's it. Pretty easy isn't it?
Now you just need to place it somewhere. You can also decorate presents with these flowers.

What do you think? Do you like flowers?

Movie Thursday: Mud

Two young boys encounter a fugitive and form a pact to help him evade the bounty hunters on his trail and to reunite him with his true love.

What is love? What would you do for it?
I liked the story and the way everything turns out :)

Woodburned & Coffee Stained Box

Hello everyone!

How are you fighting these hot days?! Well, you shouldn't fight as I do....because burning wood will make everything more hot, even though you are outside...Oh well, I did enjoy this project and I'm certain I'll make more during summer holidays.

Do you want to know how I made this cute box?

It's super easy, you just need a wood burner (please be very carefully with it, because it's super hot and I believe it's not pleasant if you touch it...So don't).
Choose a design and trace it on the surface. Then, with a steady hand, trace it with the wood burner.

I also did the edges, because it gives that old, used look.

But that wasn't enough for me. The wood was very light and it just didn't go together with the burned design. So I coffee stained everything.

Staining is super easy, I used some cold coffee remaining from the coffee machine, added some cold water and applied it with a paintbrush.
Leave it for a while and then soap up the excess with a paper towel.
After sand everything and finish off with varnishing it.

And here is the result. The one on the bottom wasn't stained at all. I think it makes a huge difference.

What do you think? Have you tried out wood burning? Let me know in the comments! :)

London II

So let's continue a brief description of my trip to London :) If you missed the first part, read it here.

Day five!

Trafalgar Square with the National Gallery. Love the Gallery. It's very big, has many interesting and known works, but I would be in just some parts where the most known paintings are.
And that was about it for this day... We went around the city till the afternoon.

Day six!
We took a look in Albert and Victoria Museum which is even huger, but it has so many works and if you know what you want to see, you just go there. You can really get inspired by all the displayed things :)
Afterwards we went to see Royal Albert Hall and his Memorial. Afterwards we went to Harrods and took a look inside. So luxurious :D
Oh, and very close to Harrods there is the Ecuador Embassy where Julian Assange is. And on the third of July he was celebrating his birthday :)

Day seven!
Buckingham Palace was indeed a must-see. The Queen was home, but she didn't came to show herself...Oh well, now she has a baby George to take care of :)
And then we went to St. Pancras - international station. And inside there is a statue called The Meeting Point, featuring images from the history of the Tube and train: people queuing on platforms or travelling in carriages; soldiers departing for war and returning injured, and repair works following the 7 July 2005 London bombings.

Day eight!
Last day to enjoy the great city. We went to see the horse guards exchange. Now if you like horses and you feel like standing there for an half an hour, go. But it isn't that interesting to watch. Well at least for me.
Because I like London as a city, we walked up and down and saw wonderful architecture, interesting shops, people...well it's very different as here in Slovenia. So yeah, if you go there, go around and experience London a bit differently.

Day nine!
We had to get up early in the morning and run to Hammersmith station to catch the first train to Liverpool Street Station. And from there on we took the Teravision bus and got to the airport soon enough to have some breakfast. And from there on we flew to Trieste Airport. Our relatives came to pick us up and took us to Nova Gorica, but there my journey didn't stop, because I stayed with them for two weeks.

Movie Thursdays: Memento

A man, suffering from short-term memory loss, uses notes and tattoos to hunt for the man he thinks killed his wife.

Who is John G.?

Wow. I am completely shocked how the story ends, or should I say begins. You really need to be focused. All-mighty Nolan really pulled this whole idea in a great memorable movie!

Troll Pop Art

Hello everyone!

Internet memes!?
I know they are like ancient history now...but 2 years back, they were something new, something fun...

Troll Pop Art

I totally forgot I made these...But I'm very proud of myself that I did this project :)

All three

Forever Alone

Bitch Please

Me gusta

It's a lino-cut technique. Printed in my school.

Me Gusta was done by my good friend Eva Goljat. She did a great job with the wrinkles under the eye and on the chin.

I haven't frame them yet. Waiting for a free wall to hang it on.

And I'm sorry for the flash photography, I had no choice.

DIY Coasters

Hey everyone! :)

I had these cork coasters for ages and I just didn't find the time to make something out of them. And then I saw my brothers girlfriend (Crafty Little DevilDIY coasters, and I said enough is enough.

So here they are :)
I wanted to make them as simple as possible, but not boring. I painted everything with silver and then I used a rhombus stencil.

I actually don't use coasters, so I'll probably give them to someone as a gift.

Movie Thursday: The Pursuit of Happyness

A struggling salesman takes custody of his son as he's poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor.

Based on a true story.
When you think life couldn't get worse...it gets worse. But you just have to hang on and believe you can make it, just like Chris Gardner did :)
